“Still lovin' my trophy . . . we rub its scrotum for good luck.” Madeline Moore, Story-Teller of the Year 2011
“Amazing. And even though its not at all about personal gain, but about winning the understanding and acceptance of the generel public and accessability & courage of people with disability, I am proud of receiving any kind of acknowledgement from you guys!" Asgerbo, Handisex, Copenhagen, Pioneer of the Year 2011
“If you are disabled and present yourself as a confident sexual being, people don't know what to do. They find it intimidating. By performing, I hope I can be a powerful tool in getting people to think about things differently.” Amelia Carvallo, Performance Artist of the Year 2010
“Incredible night. You must be so proud, it was a real delight to be there, so thank you for letting me perform for you all! Anna Drury
“Thanks for a fabulous night on Friday - I really enjoyed myself and am proud to be associated with Outsiders and all that it does. I love my award too - it has pride of place next to the TV in our living room!” Victoria McKenzie
“Please do feed back to the judges how pleased I am to be selected, it's very nice to be recognised - particularly when compared with some really great bloggers.” Dr Petra Boynton
“Thanks for a great evening last night. I felt so surprisingly safe and really enjoyed myself. Winning the award for striptease was, as you say, the icing on the cake. I hadn't even noticed there was a category for this and couldn't believe it when my name was called. Thank you for creating the best environment where I can bloom with such pleasure.” Mikey Argy aka Minki Minx
“I'm shocked and completely thrilled! What an honor!” David Steinberg
“That is fantastic - I already read something in the Indy. Did you see I started a Twitter list which (I hope) continues to grow and create a sense of community amongst Twittering finalists (from ALL years!). If you visit my Twitter account, you'll see it on the right hand column. Thank you for including me this year, and - live from New York - a big sex-positive hug.” Tracey Quan
“Thanks again for a great event, and for the Award. We're really grateful, we've plastered it all over the web, FB, Myspace etc etc and put a lovely pic of it on every page within our website www.actart.co.uk. Hope you get some well earned rest now. All the best.” Olly + Marc
“Tuppy, a big thanks once again for the award.” Anna Arrowsmith
“I am so shocked at having won but very pleased. I assume I am the first priest to have won such an award and I shall put it with pride of place in my study (but might remove it when my mother comes to visit) - James sent a text on Sat evening to let me know and I was so pleased he could accept the award on my behalf but sorry I could not have collected it in person.
I take this award as an honour not only for me but for many other priests who are as much pioneers in their parish as they work to challenge societal views and who work tirelessly without the same publicity I have had around Soho. The honour of this award also says something about what the church should be – a place of welcome for all. I am not the only priest who has worked with sex workers or who have supported the safety first campaign – others have done so in the past and maybe in a much more public way. For me the motivating force in all that I have done in my parish is as the parish priest, that is a priest to all who live and work in the parish, without exception. As I have come to know many of the sex workers I am reminded of the stories of Jesus in the Bible when he meets women that others would view as immoral, yet he treats them with such compassion and respect. He is anointed by a woman who tradition deems to be a prostitute and whilst the establishment look on in shock, he sees what she does as a beautiful thing. I think I have a good model in the actions of Jesus and as I go about Soho, the support I have had from many of the sex workers have made my job a lot easier. After Ipswich I realised that if we continued to dehumanise men and women in the sex industry then such horrific attacks and murders would continue and it is only as we see men and women as people and not things that we can move to make their lives so much safer.
I hope that St Anne’s church in Soho is a safe place for all and a place where people won’t feel judged either at a service or just as a place to pop in for a bit of solace. I hope, as the parish priest, I will continue to be thought of as a friend to all in this community and wider but much more I hope that we come to a time in our society when sex workers won’t have their lives put at risk in a society which still fails to protect them as they seek to make a living.
I notice that people from last year wrote a little for the web site – so I am happy to do something for you or for the above to be used. Thank you for your hard work with these awards and I look forward to meeting you at some stage.” David S Gilmore, Rector, St Anne's, Soho
“It was a pleasure to meet you at last, and thank you for inviting me.” Lord Faulkner of Worcester (Politician of the Year 2008)
“Todger Talk winning Blog of the Year 2008 has opened some important doors - the first with my starting as the Online Sex and Relationship Editor at Menshealth.co.uk - an amazing opportunity to drive through their 420,000 male readers a month to our blog and get a huge number of men talking and thinking openly and honestly about sex and relationships. There are quite a few other irons in the fire that wouldn't have been there if we hadn't won the award. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!” Sam van Rood, Love Doctor
“Firstly, I applaud and acknowledge your consistent commitment to working to encourage responsible sexual expression and enjoyment. In my experience it takes exceptional determination and confidence to make a stand for sexual rights and freedom. Secondly I congratulate you on the Night of the Senses. I have been to numerous sex events/parties/clubs and what struck me about your was the friendliness that rippled through the whole event. I know that sex parties have the potential for competition, comparison and even aggression, but none of this was apparent and it was a very allowing and fun and sexy space.
Thank you to you and the Jury for my Award - my golden cock has pride of place in my study. Winning the Sex Worker of the Year award is so affirming for me and I really feel that it gives me the opportunity and inspiration to continue build and develop my work.” Sue Newsome, Sex Worker of the Year 2008
"The Erotic Awards was one of my proudest moments as not only do I look on it as a serious, industry award but the fact that it's attached to the Leydig Trust and Outsiders is something, excuse the clichés here, extremely close to my heart. Aside from the AMAZING night with an amazing mix of people, tastes, perversions and orientations, the atmosphere was unthreatening, welcoming, fun but safe and I've never been to a fetish/similar night quite like it. I also need to thank the EA team who were constantly helpful, friendly, encouraging and bending over backwards to help even though they were buzzing round like blue-arsed flies. I just wanted to genuinely and deeply thank you, Tuppy, for creating this beautiful creature." Lily Dumont, Performance Artist of the Year 2006
"Congratulations on launching a genuinely lovely and fun Awards show. We had a blast. We felt like VIPs all evening and that was especially nice." Marianna Beck and Jack Hafferkamp of Libido (Chicago) (Publication of the Year 1999)
“I guess one of the sweetest scenes I saw was the winners of the Awards walking around holding their golden flying cocks like they were going to take off, and spinning around the Ball in uncontained joy.” Guest at the Night of the Senses
