Now in it's seventh year Olympia Moments was started by three of London's most popular dancers, Maxxx, Lady Jane and Ulrika in the summer of 1999.
Cast your mind back to June 1999. It's one of those glorious summer evenings. Men and women are emerging from the glass and stone buildings that crowd the City and are gathering outside on the streets for wine, beer and sun. At this moment, three young women are making their way through this vibrant crowd to a well-known pub near Liverpool Street Station - the true heart of London's strip-tease scene.
Jane, Maxxx and Ulrika have been invited to perform at a stag party. While they are transforming themselves into their sex-goddess personas in the changing room among the hairspray, rollers, stockings and baby-lotion, the host pops his head round the door:-
Who's here? Maxxx, Jane and Ulrika. Good. The others haven't shown up yet? How long till you're ready?
Ten to fifteen minutes. Is the DJ here yet?
No, no but I'm not panicking yet, there's still ten minutes to go.
Laughter. Head disappears, door closes.
Ulrika: God, if I were organising a stag, I'd never use ***** for a DJ.
Maxxx: Yeah, he's the best but he's not worth the stress.
Ulrika: You know, we SHOULD organise one, ourselves.
Jane: Well, why don't we?
Maxxx: What a GREAT idea!
After a triumphant night which has been so much fun for them, it becomes obvious that these three artists work well together. Their individual looks, personalities and skills complement one-another perfectly to create something outstanding... Olympia Moments!
Olympia Moments is a women's-only co-operative. We are celebrating our love of men, erotica, sex, the female nude and the sexual power of women. We cherish the traditions of strip-TEASE; costumes, themes, humour, sensuality and personalities.
This is the aim of OM. Our ongoing mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life-styles and new fetishes, to boldly take men where no men have been before.
We organise tailor-made gentlemen's evenings and stag-parties. We are the secretary you pine for; the school-mistress you feared and desired; with a license to thrill your favourite Bond-girl or just floozies with Uzis.
Ulrika chose the figure of Olympia to be our Muse. Olympia holds a special place in the history of western art. She was the first nude to truly be a real sexual woman, too. Before her, the female nude had been either a mythological figure or else some ingénue, devoid of any sexual power.
Olympia Moments is proud to be a collective run entirely by strong, sexy women. Of course, we like men and we enjoy performing too.
Another feature of Olympia Moments is that we allow female visitors free entrance and have a number of regular female guests.
Since Olympia Moments started many other underground "private parties" have emerged, however Olympia Moments remains true to original intentions of providing a fun filled honestly priced evening of entertainment, in an atmosphere more akin to a gathering of friends than anything you would find in a normal strip pub or tabledancing club.
Ulrika departed the UK for warmer climes in 2002, leaving Maxxx and Jane to continue running the events.
Originally Olympia Moments was held every other month, however due to its popularity it is now held every month on the first Thursday of every month, with a Christmas treat of a second party.
Attending most events are our photographer friends Julie Cook and Nick Stanbra. Julie's photographs appear in the Arena article and the "London - From Punk To Blair" book, while Nick provides many photographs for the Olympia Moments website.
