A very strong woman on the trapeze, Al batros moved graciously and with a certain meaning, which brought the audience to a silence. Her silver PVC catsuit worked perfectly with a space-age David Bowie soundtrack to create an other-worldly feel. Her show was unexpectedly moving, perhaps because it was her erotic fantasy. Slowly, her fledglings removed her clothing and un-taped her bosom, creating a naked trapeze artist in her element.
I am a 44 year-old queer/lesbian woman with a visual impairment. I am an aerial and physical theatre performer and workshop leader. I am interested in issues of gender, sexuality, body image and disability.
In my performance I am exploring what erotic means to me personally, given my age, gender and sexuality, how I can express the erotic through my work on the static trapeze and also how putting a 'queer eye' on stage with me affects how the audience interprets my performance.
