Shakespeare in Lust

Written by Bruce Abrahams

Illustrated with engravings by Hugo D. Wood

published by The Erotic Print Society

Perfectly charming book, bound in black and silver, an intimate and seductive gift for a lover, featuring erotic sonnets of love in the style of William Shakespeare. Here is the first sonnet:

Those lines that I have writ before do lie
Mute witnesses to my imagining
Nor shall I know until the day I die
Whether to others pleasure they may bring For sure they're born of one poor poet's lust,
And as obscenities may be abhorred;
But those who shrink self righteous in disgust
Know not the proper function of the bawd.
It's not a great tradition to rehearse
The fantasies of our carnality?
In the scatology of vulgar verse
We humans celebrate venality.
So think not that these squibs were best unread:
That which is oft imagined may be said.
